I’ve been super behind on this, so I apologize. School seriously sucks up most of my time and it’s only going to get worse as I near the end of this semester. But heaps of schoolwork means I’m listening to heaps of music. Here are some tracks that I’ve been digging during my solo dance parties in the kitchen.

2013, what a year. There has been heaps of fantastic releases this year, so as per a buddy’s request, I’ve compiled 35 of my favourite tracks released in 2013. You may already have some of these songs, whether you’ve got them already or they’re from some of the playlists I’ve posted here. Cheers to 2013 and here’s to hoping that 2014 is just as good!
PART I | PART II | PART 3
P.S. I’ve included a .m3u file and it’ll put the songs in the correct order for the playlist.

I guess it’s about time I post another one of these… I’ve slacked on this, but school has been unusually busy this semester and I’ve been bogged down with heaps of papers and assignments. Anyway, here are some tracks that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the past few months. Enjoy!

I know a couple of my friends have been asking about these and I am finally getting this up for the month of August. It’s a wee bit late since August is almost over, but I’ve been crazy busy with work since returning from Europe and I just never had the chance to compile the tracks. Anyway, enjoy!

About time I get this up, eh?  I was actually going to post up a “End of the Year” playlist but chose not to and so, here’s a playlist that has some of the songs that I’ve been listening to since my last playlist.  There’s a lot of great tracks from some fantastic emerging artists and established artists that I hope y’all will enjoy.

It’s here and it’s early!  That’s right, internet friends and real-life friends, my November mix has hit the web.  As usual, here are a bunch of tracks that I’ve had on constant repeat recently.  Hope you guys fall in love with them too!

I’ve been meaning to post this but life’s been a little on the crazy side recently.  It also took me a while to decide which songs to include and these are the artists that I went with this time around.  As usual, these are songs that I’ve been listening to over the past while and I hope you guys like them too.

About time I put up a new mix, eh?  Here are a bunch of great tracks that I’ve been listening to over past two or three months.  It’s definitely an eclectic mishmash of songs that I hope you guys will enjoy too.

Here’s the May edition of songs that I’m currently digging.  I know it’s not even May yet but I thought I’d post this early since I won’t be blogging as much during the daytime starting Tuesday.  Yours truly has finally gotten a co-op position for the summer semester!  But that’s a story for another time…

It’s finally spring!  Although it wouldn’t really seem so in Vancouver, considering we’ve had snowfall a handful of times in the past couple of weeks.  But, that’s changed and there’s been a smattering of sunshine here and there.  So, with the whole season change and all, I thought that it’s about time I post another mix.  Like usual, these are songs by artists that I’ve been listening to for the past while or so.

Rather than going on and on about some of the artists, because I’m sure you guys have already heard of some, I’m just going to touch on a few of the up-and-comers that you might be hearing of for the first time.  Funnily enough, all the ones that I want to introduce to you guys are all from jolly ole England.

First up is my latest band discovery and probably the best that I’ve stumbled upon this year: SPLASHH.  Not much is really known about the London duo, but expect that to change real soon.  I seriously cannot get enough of their lo-fi, fuzzy garage-y tunes.  Obsessed, I am.

Next is a band that got their start whilst studying at the University of Leeds, which I have a special place for in my heart because I did a semester abroad there.   (the symbol you type in ‘alt-j’ on a Mac) is a quartet that is now based in Cambridge and they’ve got this really cool sound that blends bluesy vocals with looping basslines and sweet rhythms.

For my final introduction, it goes to a young girl who I like to call the lovechild of Lykke Li and Marina and the Diamonds.  At only 19, Charli XCX is taking the music stage by storm. Both, “Stay Away” and “Nuclear Seasons,” have been praised by many and they are definitely a couple of my favourite songs from last year.  I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing her live, but I did get to hear her soundchecking before the MTV Brand New For 2012 show at KOKO in London.

That’s it for now.  I hope you guys like the songs and discover some new artists!
Cheers.

money is the anthem.

I haven’t done one of these posts in quite some time so sorry about that.  You know how it is when you’re studying in England and travelling around Europe…  So, here’s the latest compilation of songs that I’ve been listening to since my last download post.  It’s a mix of bands/artists that have been around for some time and one’s that I’ve discovered in the past few months or so.  I’m not going to lie, I totally Shazam-ed that High Places song in a Weekday store in Berlin.  They play some really wicked music in all of the stores, further cementing just how amazing the store is.  Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the music and find some new bands/artists to listen to!

six.

It seems like my music downloads post keep getting shorter and shorter.  Here’s six tracks from artists that I’ve been digging since my last download post (click here for previous downloads).  Artists included are Alessi’s Ark, Florence and the Machine, Real Estate, Lisa Hannigan, Feist, and Youth Lagoon.  If you haven’t been following me on Tumblr or on Twitter, you probably won’t know how much I obsessed over a couple of these artists the past while.  I can’t wait to compile my next download post because it’s going to be my top albums of 2011!  In the meantime, enjoy these tracks.

nine.

Back by popular demand!  Here’s another free download of some stuff that I’ve been digging for the past while.  There’s only 9 songs in this one, as compared to my usual 16, so I’ll probably end up doing another one soon-ish.  Included in this edition is everyone’s favourite, Lana Del Rey, as well as Girls, Neon Indian, A.A. Bondy and more.  Hope you guys like it!

Download it here.
